For sixty-one years, customers have crowded into Veselka, a cozy Ukrainian coffee shop in New York City's East Village, to enjoy pierogi, borscht, goulash, and many other unpretentious favorites. Veselka (rainbow in Ukrainian) has grown up from a simple newsstand serving soup and sandwiches into a twenty-four hour gathering place without ever leaving its original location on the corner of East Ninth Street and Second Avenue. Veselka is, quite simply, an institution.

For produce, an ex-chef who started buying and selling fruits and vegetables out of Hunts Point market. Hans is Austrian and works closely with us in obtaining the best produce and value for our needs. He is very personable, knowledgeable as well as reliable.
is a wholesaler out of the Brooklyn Meat Market, he is a second generation butcher, his father had a store on Stanton Street for over 30 years before retiring. Mitch has taken over the business, however he sells wholesale out of the market and does not sell commercially as his father did due to the high rent costs in the city.
we buy from a small producer out of Vermont our maple almond granola.

located at 139 Second Avenue, an old-time butcher who smokes his own kielbasa. We have been doing business together since we opened, going on 60 years.... they supply us with Kielbasa, salami, ham, ground pork and much more....
now located in LIC, supply us with our brioche buns for burgers and sandwiches, as well as all our specialty breads

Longo runs the Porto Rico Coffee shops located on Bleecker Street, as well as St Marks. They roast their own beans locally in Williamsburg and blend a special city blend for us at Veselka.
Tom is on the board and Veselka is a supporter of GVSHP. The organization was instrumental in having a substantial portion of the East Village landmarked a year ago.
We're long time supporters of TA. Veselka is a designated bike friendly business and we helped get the East Village become the first NYC neighborhood designated as a bike friendly district.
The Under the Radar Festival at The Public Theatre, Theatre for The New City, Dancespace, Foundry Theatre, Phoenix Theatre and Theatre La Mama. We have twice been awarded The Local Hero Award by ART New York for our continuing support of local theatre.
Veselka was a founding member of the East Village Parks Conservancy.
