VESELKA - NOW TWICE AS UKRAINIAN

Veselka Restaurant was started in 1954 by Wolodymyr Darmochwal who had recently emigrated from the Ivano-Frankovsk region of Ukraine. In the early days Veselka was a humble neighborhood candy store and newsstand that had a small counter and a few tables where a small selection of Ukrainian dishes we served. The popularity of these homemade dishes helped Veselka to grow over the years and become a full fledged restaurant serving a large variety of homemade Ukrainian and American dishes. Veselka has been fortunate to receive many positive reviews and awards over the years and is now a beloved neighborhood institution. We are now proud to announce the opening of our new venture, Veselka Bowery at 9 East 1st Street, where we will be re-imagining ourselves by offering a more contemporary interpretation of classic Ukrainian dishes.
